Interactive Brokers Launches Zero-Commission US Stock Trading in Singapore

Interactive Brokers has introduced zero-commission trading for US stocks and ETFs in Singapore, eliminating both platform and settlement fees. The launch of the IBKR Lite pricing plan aims to give Singapore-based investors cost-effective access to American markets without hidden charges.

IBKR Lite Targets Local Retail Investors

The new plan allows Singapore residents to trade US equities 24 hours a day, five days a week, with no minimum account requirements. IBKR Lite also provides overnight trading on more than 10,000 US stocks and ETFs, enabling investors to trade during Asian business hours even when US markets are closed — a key feature for overcoming time zone barriers.

“We’re pleased to bring zero-commission US stock trading to investors in Singapore,” said Yujun Lin, CEO of Interactive Brokers Singapore. “With IBKR Lite, clients benefit from cost-effective access to the US markets, with zero commissions and no platform or settlement fees.”

Competing in a Growing Market

Unlike some competitors that advertise zero commissions but charge extra fees, Interactive Brokers says its Singapore operation removes those additional costs entirely. The move comes as Singapore continues to attract global financial players — Crossover Markets, a crypto ECN firm, recently entered the market, further boosting the city-state’s profile as an Asian trading hub.

Flexible Trading Options and Added Features

Singapore users can switch between IBKR Lite and IBKR Pro, the latter offering advanced order execution via SmartRouting. Both plans include:

  • Fractional share trading for small account balances.
  • Automated recurring investments for long-term strategies.
  • Participation in the Stock Yield Enhancement Program to earn income on fully-paid shares.
  • Competitive interest rates on uninvested cash balances.

Since establishing its Singapore presence in 2020, Interactive Brokers has expanded its offerings to include stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, and funds across more than 160 global markets. The zero-fee US stock trading launch reflects the broker’s ongoing strategy to grow its footprint in Asia and attract retail investors seeking direct exposure to US markets.

The launch of IBKR Lite in Singapore adds to Interactive Brokers’ recent series of client-focused enhancements. Recently, the broker expanded its partnership with TipRanks, integrating advanced analytics such as Smart Score, Trending Stocks, and Insider Trading data directly into its platforms to help traders make more informed decisions.
