NPBFX Review

NPBFX is a completely unregulated forex broker which gives us more than one reason to be suspicious. NPBFX claims to have been operating in the market since 1996, which is impressive even compared to many of the industry’s leading brands. The broker also participates in a voluntary investor compensation fund, which provides some level of guarantees for client funds despite the lack of a first-party regulatory license. NPBFX also claims to be the winner of at least one industry award in 2024, though we have been able to confirm this claim.

Here end the supposed positives of this broker. NPBFX presents itself as being managed by an offshore company in the Island of Moheli, Comoros Union, but clients actually contract with an even less regulated company in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The NPBFX trading platform is registered in the name of a third offshore company registered in Belize.

NPBFX has also been blacklisted by financial regulators in one of the markets it targets.

The trading accounts advertised on the website and their associated terms and conditions differ significantly from the actual options you can choose from once you register an account. The same applies to payment methods and trading software. Overall, NPBFX is so full of contradictions and ambiguities that we find it hard to accept it as a legitimate broker.

NPBFX Licenses and Regulation

NPBFX lists an office address in Montenegro, but claims it is managed by the company NMarkets Limited, registered in Island of Moheli, Comoros Union.

A check with the local financial regulator, the Mwali International Services Authority, confirms that this company exists.

When you register an account with this broker, however, you are required to agree to the Terms and Conditions, which are on behalf of a company with an identical name but registered in a different offshore zone – St Vincent and the Grenadines. The documents in question do not open on the website, but must be downloaded as pdf files to be opened.

We have been unable to confirm NPBFX’s claims that it has been operating for nearly 30 years. This broker nonetheless has a long history.

The npbfx.com domain was registered in 2014, and the broker’s membership of the private self-regulatory institution, the Financial Commission, dates back to 2015. However, at the time of writing this review, this domain is being transferred to another domain registered in 2018 – nmarkets.org. The broker’s legal entity in St Vincent and the Grenadines, NMarkets Limited, was registered in the same year – 2018. The company in Belize, in whose name the trading software of this broker is registered, was registered in the same year. The company based in the Island of Moheli is registered in 2022.

NPBFX states that it does not accept customers from the USA and Canada, but there are many other jurisdictions where it is probably not legal to be a customer of that broker. NPBFX is focused on the markets of Southeast Asia and Russia, which is evident from the underlying currencies and payment methods. However, the Bank of Russia has blacklisted the broker and warns investors that it is not an authorized financial services provider. The regulator also provides a ridiculously long list of domains associated with this broker.

Offshore registration alone does not mean that a broker is shady or fraudulent. Virtually all of the leading brands in the industry have offshore subsidiaries as well. But in the case of NPBFX, this is just one of many reasons to be cautious.

NPBFX does not mention anything about negative balance protection and segregated bank accounts, so it is unclear whether it provides these protections to its clients. But the broker is still a member of the Hong Kong-based Financial Commission. This provides clients with a mechanism to resolve disputes with the broker. In addition, membership of this private institution includes participation in an Investor Compensation Fund, which can compensate the client up to EUR 20,000.

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Financial Services Authority (FSA) specifically warns that it does not license forex, binary and other types of brokers. While companies offering forex and CFD services can register in SVG, they are often registered as international business companies (IBCs) without strict requirements to obtain a specific forex trading license. This means they are not subjected to the same level of scrutiny as brokers in jurisdictions with stringent financial regulations. SVG does not impose specific capital adequacy requirements or demand compliance with client protection measures such as segregated client accounts or compensation schemes that are typical in other regulatory frameworks. Forex and CFD brokers registered in SVG are not required by local law to uphold standards for product disclosure, leverage limits, or negative balance protection. Due to the large number of scammers taking advantage of this lack of regulatory oversight, starting in 2023, the financial authorities in the SVG began requiring international brokerage firms registered in the country to provide proof that they hold the necessary licences in the jurisdictions in which they provide financial services. This has led many brokers registered there to move or make additional registrations in other offshore areas.

When considering trading with an unregulated forex broker based in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), a trader must carefully weigh the potential risks and benefits. St. Vincent and the Grenadines has become a popular jurisdiction for offshore brokers due to its lenient financial regulations and ease of company registration, but this also means that traders receive minimal oversight and protection compared to those trading with brokers regulated in jurisdictions like the EU, UK, US, or Australia.

One of the most significant concerns with an unregulated broker in SVG is the lack of regulatory supervision. Unlike brokers operating under strict financial authorities such as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), or the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), firms registered in SVG are not subject to the same capital adequacy requirements, client fund protection rules, or risk management standards. The Financial Services Authority (FSA) of St. Vincent and the Grenadines explicitly states that it does not regulate forex or securities trading, meaning that brokers registered there operate without any formal oversight. This exposes traders to higher risks of fraud, fund mismanagement, or unfair trading practices since there is no governing body to hold the broker accountable in case of disputes.

Another major downside is the absence of investor protections such as segregated client accounts, compensation schemes, and negative balance protection. In regulated markets, brokers are often required to keep client funds separate from company operating funds, reducing the risk of client money being misused or lost if the broker becomes insolvent. In SVG, brokers are not obligated to provide these safeguards, which increases the risk of fund misappropriation or sudden company shutdowns without reimbursement. If an SVG-based broker collapses, traders typically have no recourse to recover their funds.

Additionally, trading conditions with unregulated brokers can be unpredictable, as they are not required to follow strict execution standards. This means traders may experience wider-than-normal spreads, slippage, price manipulation, or order rejections, particularly during volatile market conditions. Some offshore brokers engage in questionable practices, such as using dealing desk execution to trade against their clients, making it more difficult for traders to achieve consistent profitability.

However, unregulated offshore brokers also offer certain advantages that can be appealing to some traders. One of the primary benefits is higher leverage. Regulated brokers in the EU, UK, and Australia are subject to leverage caps (such as 1:30 for major forex pairs), which limit the exposure retail traders can take on a single trade. Brokers in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, however, can offer leverage as high as 1:500 or even higher, allowing traders to maximize their position sizes with a smaller initial investment. While this can lead to higher potential profits, it also amplifies risk, increasing the likelihood of significant losses.

Another perceived advantage of unregulated brokers is fewer trading restrictions. Many regulated brokers impose strict rules on hedging, scalping, and Expert Advisors (EAs), whereas offshore brokers often allow more flexible trading strategies. Additionally, offshore brokers frequently offer deposit bonuses, promotions, and cashback incentives, which are prohibited under many regulatory regimes.

There is also the factor of lower entry barriers, as many offshore brokers accept small minimum deposits and offer a broader selection of base currencies and payment methods, including cryptocurrencies. For traders from countries where local restrictions limit access to forex trading, an offshore broker can be one of the few available options.

Ultimately, deciding whether to trade with an unregulated broker in St. Vincent and the Grenadines comes down to a trader’s risk tolerance and priorities. While these brokers provide high leverage, fewer restrictions, and enticing promotions, they come with significant risks, including lack of oversight, fund security concerns, and potential market manipulation. Traders considering such brokers should conduct extensive due diligence, researching the broker’s reputation, client reviews, funding and withdrawal policies, and overall transparency. Using regulated brokers remains the safest choice, but if one chooses an offshore broker, it is essential to trade cautiously, avoid overleveraging, and only deposit what they can afford to lose.

NPBFX Trading Software

NPBFX offers only one platform for forex and CFD trading – MetaTrader 4 (MT4). The broker offers desktop, web and mobile versions of the software. But at the time of writing this review, only the limited web and mobile versions allowed logging into a live trading server. The comprehensive desktop version only allowed logging into the demo server. This meant that clients of this broker could not use the advanced features of the automated trading platform.

MetaTrader 4 (MT4) has been a dominant force in forex trading since its launch in 2005, establishing itself as the industry standard due to its user-friendly interface, powerful charting tools, and advanced automation capabilities. Developed by MetaQuotes Software, MT4 quickly gained widespread adoption among brokers and traders alike, becoming the go-to platform for retail forex trading. Despite the introduction of more advanced alternatives like MetaTrader 5 (MT5), many traders continue to prefer MT4 for its simplicity, stability, and extensive third-party support.

NPBFX MT4 Desktop

One of the primary reasons for MT4’s enduring popularity is its intuitive and highly customizable trading environment. The platform offers a clean, straightforward interface that allows traders of all experience levels to execute trades, analyze charts, and develop trading strategies with ease. Its comprehensive technical analysis tools, including 30+ built-in indicators, multiple charting options, and support for custom scripts, make it a powerful tool for both manual and algorithmic trading. The platform also supports multiple order types and execution modes, catering to different trading strategies such as scalping, day trading, and swing trading.

Perhaps the most significant factor behind MT4’s dominance is its support for automated trading through Expert Advisors (EAs). The platform uses MQL4, a programming language specifically designed for building custom indicators and automated trading systems. Over the years, MT4 has developed a massive ecosystem of traders, developers, and third-party services, providing access to thousands of free and paid trading algorithms, custom indicators, and scripts. This vast community support ensures that traders can find ready-made solutions for their specific trading needs without requiring extensive programming knowledge.

Despite the introduction of MT5, many traders still prefer MT4 because of its familiarity and simplicity. MT5 was designed to be a multi-asset platform, supporting not just forex but also stocks, commodities, and futures. It features more advanced order execution, additional timeframes, a built-in economic calendar, and improved strategy testing. However, many forex traders find that MT4 already meets all their needs, and since it is less resource-intensive than MT5, it remains the preferred choice, particularly for traders focusing solely on forex and CFDs. Additionally, MT5 uses MQL5, a different programming language that is not backward-compatible with MQL4, meaning traders who have invested in custom indicators and EAs for MT4 often stick with the platform rather than transitioning to MT5.

NPBFX MT4 Web

While MT4 is a powerful and reliable platform, a forex broker that only offers MT4 may have certain limitations. Since MT4 was originally designed for forex and CFD trading, brokers who offer only this platform may not provide access to stocks, commodities, and futures trading, which are better integrated into MT5. Additionally, MT4 does not have built-in depth of market (DOM) functionality, an essential feature for traders who rely on real-time order book data and advanced execution models. This makes it less suitable for traders who require institutional-grade market access.

Another drawback is that MetaQuotes has officially stopped selling new MT4 licenses to brokers, meaning that any broker offering only MT4 is likely operating on an older infrastructure. As the industry gradually shifts towards MT5 and other proprietary trading solutions, brokers that remain reliant on MT4 may struggle to keep up with evolving market demands. Furthermore, with regulatory restrictions tightening, brokers using MT5 have better integration with modern compliance tools and risk management features, which can be a competitive advantage.

Ultimately, MT4 remains one of the most widely used trading platforms due to its stability, ease of use, and strong automation capabilities. However, traders should be aware that brokers offering only MT4 may have limitations in asset variety, execution options, and long-term platform support. While MT5 is technically superior, MT4 continues to be the preferred choice for many forex traders, particularly those who rely on custom indicators, automated trading strategies, and a well-established trading community.

Full utilization of the capabilities of the MetaTrader platforms for automated trading requires the use of a Virtual Private Server (VPS). This allows scripts to run reliably 24/7 without depending on the trader’s personal hardware and internet connection. Some brokers provide free or promotional VPS to clients who meet certain conditions for funds deposited and volume traded, but NPBFX is not one of them.

The broker also advertises its own web terminal for investments, which requires separate registration. There is no clear information on the website regarding the terms and conditions associated with this platform.

NPBFX Invest Portal

After registering an account, we found links to MyDigiTrade web-platform and Myfxbook AutoTrade web-platform on the broker’s dashboard. Both refer to completely different websites operated by different companies and require separate registration. There is no information on NPBFX’s website regarding this broker’s relationship with these platforms.

NPBFX Account types and trading conditions

The initial registration of an NPBFX account requires verification of email and phone number, but no additional personal information. After registration, you can create multiple live and demo accounts, but depositing funds requires identity and address verification.

According to the information on the website, NPBFX offers three account types – Master, Expert and VIP. The base currency of the accounts can be USD, EUR or RUB.

The Master account is closest to the Standard type accounts offered by most of NPBFX’ competitors. The minimum deposit for such an account is quite low – 10 USD, 10 EUR or 500 RUB. The minimum trade volume is 0.01 lots, or 1000 currency units. Expert and VIP accounts are obviously designed for traders with a higher capital. The required minimum deposit for an Expert account is 5,000 USD/EUR or 300.00 RUB and for a VIP account is 50,000 EUR/USD or 3,000,000 RUB.

All accounts are STP, which means that the client pays only a floating spread with no additional commissions. The spread is also the main difference between the account types. The master account promises a floating spread of 0.8 pips with an average of 1.2 pips. The Expert account is advertised with spreads starting at 0.6 pips and an average level of 1 pip, and the VIP account – with spreads of 0.4 pips and an average level of 0.8 pips.

The available information on maximum leverage is conflicting. The home page of the website advertises a maximum leverage of 1:500. However, the brief description of account types lists much lower levels – 1:200 for Master accounts and 1:100 for Expert and VIP accounts. The same levels are also specified in the contract specifications for the individual tradable instruments. However, in the detailed description of the account types, a maximum leverage of 1:1000 for the Master account and 1:200 for the other account types is stated.

The contradictions in the information about the trading conditions increase after registering and logging into the NPBFX dashboard. There are not three, but seven different options in the menu to create a new live account. All account types have a specified maximum leverage of 1:1000.

Master, Expert and VIP accounts have the same deposits in EUR and USD, but lower minimum deposits in RUB. The indicated trading cost is higher for Master and Expert accounts – respectively spreads starting from 1.4 pips and 0.8 pips. When we opened a demo Master account we saw a spread of 1.5-1.6 pips for EUR/USD.

The other four account types are not described on the website. These include the Zero account, which offers a raw spread close to zero and a fixed commission of 8 USD per lot. NPBFX also offers Cent accounts with the same terms as the Master and Zero accounts, but using micro lots. The minimum deposit for the Master Cen account is 10 USD, but the Zero and Zero Cen accounts require a deposit of 1,000 USD, which pretty much makes the Cent account pointless.

The broker also offers a Master Account with a base currency of CNY, which requires a minimum deposit of CNY 50.

If this were a more credible broker, and if the minimum deposits for Expert and VIP accounts were lower, this would be a pretty good set of trading account types. The different pricing models and micro lot trading options provide great flexibility to implement a variety of trading strategies. But as far as there are plenty of more transparent, proven and regulated brokers that offer similar and better terms, there is no good reason to take chances with NPBFX.

NPBFX Deposit and Withdraw Methods

According to the information on NPBFX’s website, this broker offers a fairly large range of conventional payment methods through which clients can deposit and withdraw funds. This includes Visa and MasterCard credit/debit cards, electronic payment systems such as WebMoney, Qiwi Wallet, Yandex Money, Fasapay, Skrill, Neteller and Vietnam’s Ngan Luong, international bank transfer and a large number of local bank transfer options in the Middle East and North East Asia.

NPBFX states that it does not charge its own deposit and withdrawal fees. The only exception is the international wire transfer, which has a 3% withdrawal fee plus USD 30.

After registering an account, we again found a discrepancy between the information on the website and reality. The broker’s deposit menu is missing the options for international and bank transfer, as well as some of the e-wallets. Instead, there are multiple options for cryptocurrency transactions that are not advertised on the website. While many regulated brokers also allow cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals, this is a payment method that comes with many regulatory and other risks and uncertainties.

NPBFX Bonuses and Promotions

The other big trump card of offshore brokers besides high leverage is the ability to offer bonuses – a practice that is banned by most financial regulators in developed markets.

At the time of writing this review, NPBFX offers a range of promotions, and again there is a difference between what is advertised on the website and what is available as an option on the dashboard. The descriptions of the conditions are vague and in some cases sound too good to be true.

The broker has a Loyalty program that provides rewards depending on the volume traded. 100 lots traded  provide a cash bonus of 100 USD and 30,000 lots provide a BMW 320i M Sport.

Cashback up to 60% promotion requires a deposit of at least 100 USD. The promotion promises cashback up to 60% from spread (up to 7 USD per lot). Maximum amount of cashback is 10,000 USD a month. Cashback is fully available for withdrawal and trading.

NPBFX offers to the Clients an opportunity to take part in the promotion “Compensation of loss” and receive compensation for losses incurred earlier in trading. To get compensation for loss you need to send a NPBFX statement (Profits and Losses Report) from a real trading account indicating for which trades in loss you would like to get compensation. You can get compensation only after the first deposit to a trading account during the period of this Promotion.  The amount of compensation can not exceed half the amount of deposit. The compensation amount is credited to the balance of the Client’s trading account with limited withdrawal conditions.

After registration, we find a Welcome Bonus 100$ promotion that is not listed on the home page of the website. Bonus funds are credited to Master trading accounts with a maximum leverage of 1:100. In order to receive bonus funds you must pass verification of personal data in your Personal Office and verification by personal manager’s call. You can withdraw profit and bonus funds when you reach a certain trading volume. The maximum amount of bonus funds and profit available for withdrawal is 200 USD. The remaining part of the profit can be transferred to a 100% tradable bonus.

At the time of writing this review, there is also an option to enter a raffle prize pool of 500,000 USD. This promotion requires a minimum deposit of 500 USD. For every 500 USD deposited, you will receive one e-ticket to enter the prize draw.

NPBFX Tools and Education

The education section of the NPBFX website includes two things – a Demo Account and an Analytical Portal, which according to the description includes “description and analysis of more than 60 trading strategies for 9 timeframes (from scalping to long-term investment periods), based on the signals of 23 technical indicators, covering all global trading sessions”. Like the Demo Account, the Analytics Portal is also only available after registration. NPBFX also claims to offer a Chat with an Analyst service, however this is also only available after logging in.

NPBFX Calculator

The only ancillary tool on the NPBFX website is the Trader’s Calculator, which seems useful enough. There is no economic calendar, market news, webinars, video tutorials, technical and fundamental analysis, trading signals, forex glossary and other services that you will find at a number of other brokers.

Notes from the author:

In writing broker reviews, I have often had occasion to state that an offshore broker does not necessarily mean fraud or shady business. And indeed there are quite a few fully offshore brokers that offer high quality and favorable terms. But NPBFX is not one of them, despite its supposed three-decade history. The differences between advertised and actually available account types, payment methods and promotions is enough in itself to not trust this broker. The obfuscation of exactly which offshore company you are contracting with and the unexplained references to other suspicious brokers and paltforms self-reinforces this perception.
